Ian Scobie

Ian is a civil engineer with more than thirty years experience in project management and procurement roles. Since joining the company in the role of Senior Consultant in 2007, Ian’s responsibilities have included preparation of tenders and negotiating and awarding contracts for the NCIG Coal Export Terminal. Ian has been active in the preparation and development of business systems and processes for the KLJ Consulting Group and has been involved with the preparation of documentation for various clients as part of the dispute resolution process.

Prior to joining KLJ Consulting Group, Ian worked in mining operations, rail manufacturing projects and coal mine and aluminium smelter construction developments.  Ian has firsthand experience with the management of locomotive, passenger rail car and freight vehicle manufacturing projects while working in project management roles with a major rolling stock manufacturing company. He has also been involved with project management and procurement at a number of coal mine operations and developments including plants in the Mt Thorley, Ravensworth and Tarong areas. Ian also spent three years working as senior field engineer on construction in the potrooms area at the Tomago Aluminium Smelter.

Gary Farmer

Gary has more than twelve years experience in procurement and contracts administration roles. Since joining the company in February 2008, he has been involved with tendering and establishment of a number of significantly sized contracts for the NCIG Coal Export Terminal.

Gary is continuing his work with the NCIG project in a contract administration role. Here he is responsible for monitoring major contracts and is involved with ongoing communication and liaison with contractors on a daily basis. He has gained valuable experience in resolution of contractual issues and claim, and has developed an excellent understanding of procurement for large construction projects.

Prior to joining KLJ Consulting Group, Gary was responsible for a team of people involved with procurement, expediting and quality control of components for a significant sized manufacturing operation. Over a period of some years, Gary has developed a depth of experience in procurement and contract administration. He has excellent knowledge of tender preparation and contract formation and has the ability to achieve the required targets while remaining mindful of achieving tight time constraints.

Matthew King

Matthew has been with the company since March 2008 and has the responsibility of administrating major contracts in the berth construction area of the NCIG Coal Export Terminal project. In this role, Matthew overviews progress in the wharf area and is responsible to ensure the safe and timely completion of work for the construction of the ship loading facilities.

Matthew has completed studies in environmental engineering having attained the degree of Bachelor of Engineering (Environmental) from the University of Newcastle in 2004. Prior to joining KLJ Consulting Group, Matthew worked with the Hunter Water Corporation where he gained experience managing a number of infrastructure projects. Matthew’s responsibilities included tendering and contract management. Specific responsibilities included tender preparation and assessment, contract management involving site co-ordination, supervision of inspection resources, review of safety and environmental documentation and the processing of claims assessment & resolution.

Julianne McCubbin

Julianne has extensive experience in the field of Document Management and Site Administration. Since joining KLJ Consulting Group in 2005, Julianne has utilised her skills in document management on a variety of projects including Xstrata’s Mangoola Coal Mine project, Anvil Hill Project for Leighton Contractors, Wilpinjong Coal Mine, Millennium Coal Projects and Mt Arthur Coal Mine.

Julianne has a broad range of experience involving document management and site administration on-site as well as working in a head office environment. She has experience with projects from the pre-feasibility and design phase to construction, right through to commissioning. Her experience has given her the opportunity to liaise with personnel at all levels.

Julianne’s capabilities include the setup and administration of site based document management systems and filing structures. Previously, Julianne has worked in project support and document management positions with a number of companies including Allco Steel Corporation, ABB Engineering Construction, Barclay Mowlem and Sinclair Knight Merz.

Stacey Penfold

Stacey joined KLJ Consulting Group towards the end of 2008 to fill a role at the NCIG Coal Export Terminal project providing project support and document control services.

Stacey has experience in a wide range of business functions with extensive exposure to the team environment and direct involvement with clients. She has worked on numerous projects for and including the Port Waratah Coal Export Terminal, University of Newcastle, Serck Controls and the Hunter Water Corporation.

Stacey has twenty years of technical experience in the fields of quality assurance and commissioning in the construction industry. Extensive involvement and experience with project systems and procedures has proven to be a distinct advantage to the roles that she has undertaken on major construction projects.

Tracy McDonnell

Tracy recently joined KLJ Consulting Group and provides project support and document management services for the NCIG Coal Export Terminal project. Tracy has extensive experience in all aspects of the production, conforming, updating and control of technical documentation for operational and maintenance purposes.

Her new role with KLJ Consulting Group follows nine years working with Jetstar Airways serving as Engineering Technical Publications Supervisor and running its Technical Publications department. She was responsible for corresponding and liaising with management, vendors and other applicable persons in relation to publication requirements for all Jetstar aircraft. Her responsibilities included the control and distribution of approved data for preparation and updating of aircraft flight manuals specific to CASA regulations.

 

Administration

Jackie Thomas

Jackie Thomas is Company Secretary and a member of the KLJ Consulting Group Management Team, located at the company's head office. Since joining in 2005 Jackie has been responsible for the company's financial management of operations in both New South Wales and Queensland. Jackie has undertaken a number of site based assignments for KLJ Consulting Group including site administration and human resources in Central Queensland.

Jackie has extensive management experience in cost engineering functions, project cost reporting, forecasting, accounting, purchasing and high level administration.

Prior her involvement with KLJ Consulting Group Jackie worked in the construction, mining and recruitment industries. Jackie held a position as cost engineering assistant in the project controls department of the EPCM project management team to design and build the infrastructure and processing plant for Mount Arthur Coal Mine in the Hunter Valley.

Traci Collins

Traci joined KLJ Consulting Group in September 2006 and is currently based at the company’s head office providing payroll and administration services, combined with project support to KLJ’s site personnel.

Prior to joining KLJ Consulting, Traci had fifteen years experience working in project support roles.  Traci has previously maintained positions in several components of office administration. Some of these include payroll, IT system support & development, accounts receivable, job costing and inventory management.  She has worked with companies such as The Educational Experience, Vanreid Homes and Allco Steel Corporation. Drawing on her experience, Traci is extremely committed and takes a systematic and thorough approach in ensuring that her tasks are completed accurately and that stringent timetables are sustained.
